Hands On Labs

​Collaboration between the department of Elementary Education and CSME designed and delivered a version of the successful Hands On Labs modeled at other CSUs. The project has the following objectives: (1) Develop a “Hands On Lab” experience that engages upper level undergraduates in understanding core biological and physical science content knowledge at a college level, but in ways relevant to the middle and high school classrooms; (2) Use the Hands on Lab as part of a clear pathway for science-prepared undergraduates to pursue careers as STEM teaching; (3) Strengthen opportunities for multiple subject credential students to pursue the foundational level general science credential as a pathway to elementary and middle school science teacher leadership; (4) encourage science majors to consider middle and high school teaching; and (5) create better connections between science learning in our partner elementary and middle schools and at the university level.
